Hi, I’m Franco, and I’m a HUGE pet lover.
I’ve had pets for as long as I can remember—dogs, cats, birds, parrots, hamsters, gerbils, domestic rats, even sugar gliders. Right now, I’m a retired professional drummer (did the hair give it away?), living in sunny Florida with my two dogs, “Smokey” and “Oreo”
I’ll be honest, I’m not a big reptile person, but I do appreciate their beauty. My daughter Sophia, on the other hand, loves reptiles. When she was younger, she was my little “Ellie Mae” from the Beverly Hillbillies: She’d come into the house with a snake of some sort and a lizard hanging from both ears, at which point I’d have to say: “Sophia, you know the rules. No critters in the house”.
I worried about Sophia picking up snakes in the yard because Florida is home to some pretty nasty poisonous snakes. That’s when I taught her to search Google for “Florida poisonous snakes” to learn everything about them, especially how to identify them. It seems I unleashed a monster because she began looking up information on all sorts of animals and pets.
A few months ago, Sophia (now 20 years old) and I were sitting and reminiscing about the past—as you do. We were laughing about all the “critters” she dragged into the house over the years. “You know, Dad,” she said, “It was a LOT of work to look up all those different animals and how to care for them.”
Then it hit me. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a website where people could go to find all sorts of information about any kind of pet? It could be a sort of one-stop “how-to” place for pet lovers everywhere. And just like that, Pet Lovers Newsletter was born.
I hope you enjoy your stay here at Pet Lover’s Newsletter. I’m always looking for new things to research and write about, so if you think of a specific subject or animal you’d like me to cover, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’d love to hear from you.
